Arcade near Rue St Denis, Paris Black & White America has proved a rich
Description
America has proved a rich vein for sourcing paintings in the last decade but unusually this American oil turned up in a London saleroom
looking back to the 1880s rather than the 1920s when it was probably painted
barely a decade later the shipping containers and coastal deep-water ports had finished off the Thames’ trade and with it the viability of the Docks and Wharves along that bank
This painting was exhibited at The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts in 1915
