Passing Storm over the Sierra Nevadas by Albert Bierstadt, 1870 Finish:Art print Decorative cartouche in the bottomPassing Storm over the Sierra Nevadas by Albert Bierstadt (1870) is a tourdeforce of nineteenthcentury American landscape painting, capturing the instant a storm loosens its grip on a high mountain lake in Californias Sierra Nevada. Bierstadt, celebrated for transporting viewers into the dramatic wilderness of the American West, heightens the sublime with towering peaks, volatile skies, and a break of radiant light that pours across rock and water.
