フランス人アーティスト、ソフィ・カル（Sophie Calle）の作品集。作者は、個人的なノートの抜粋や家族アルバムの写真を通して母・モニークを描き、2007年に亡くなった母へのオマージュとして、パレ・ド・トーキョーで作り上げたインスタレーションを紹介しています。本書は、個人的な本であると同時に、私たちがいつか直面するこれらの出来事についての考えを描いたもの。表紙に綴られた刺繍はソフィ・カルの作品の質感を想起させ、本書そのものがひとつの美術的な存在感を携えています。本文に収録された個人の写真はアルバムに綴じられたように印刷され、インスタレーションに関連するすべての文章は凹凸によって記されるなど、その造本も美しい一冊です。
