Old Satirical Map of Europe, 1877 by Fredrick Rose - 19th Century Propaganda Serio-Comic, Octopus Russian vs. Ottoman Empires british isles County Clare is part ofThis fascinatingly unique and interesting map, designed by Frederick Rose in 1877, shows a "serio comic" (serious funny) view of the looming threat of Russia over Europe. Rose published a series of European socio comic maps, starting in 1877. Each one depicts the state of Europe at the time, if you look closely at the interactions between the animals, people and objects.
