SHAKER_Design Kerzenleuchter aus Bronze Philippe Starck An original from 2003The Shaker religious community was founded in the 18th century in Manchester, Great Britain. In 1774, the group emigrated to the American state of New York. Here in Europe, the Shakers are primarily known for their furniture and product designs. The Shaker style is now considered a unique and influential contribution to art history. Shaker furniture was already widespread throughout the USA in the 19th century and was even presented at world's fairs.
